There are plenty of challenging golf courses to enjoy. There are several live entertainment options, including dance, music, and theater performances. There are also numerous hiking trails. Today, we’re highlighting the best hiking paths for all skill levels near Carmel.

1. Flowing Well Park

Flowing Well Park is an 18-acre park that is perfect for a short hike. The 1.1-mile hiking trail in this park is perfect for hikers and dog walkers of all skill levels because it features only nine feet of elevation changes. However, dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.

Other features of this park trail include two bridges spanning Cool Creek and an artesian well. Besides the beautiful wildflowers and wildlife, we love how well-maintained this trail is. It even underwent eight months of renovations in 2020, including improved trail signage, parking lot expansion, restroom renovation, and stabilization of the creek bank.

2. Beech Trail

The Beech Trail is one of many hiking paths located in Cool Creek Park. This easy 1-mile trail will only take about 24 minutes to complete, so it is the perfect path to hike on your lunch break. Although it is only partially paved, it is still easy enough to push a stroller down the trail if you want to take your kids on the weekend.

Also, with a grade of no more than 5%, this trail that starts near the Cool Creek Nature Center is wheelchair-friendly. We love this trail because it is perfect for kids who are old enough to walk short distances. There are plenty of picnic tables and benches, so you can push a stroller in case your children get tired. However, you can also encourage them to hike and rest on one of the benches if they need a break.

3. River Road Park White River Trail

The River Road Park White River Trail is another great trail for all skill levels. While it may only take 27 minutes to hike the Flowing Well Park trail, it will take approximately 87 minutes to hike this very easy 3.6-mile trail. What we love about this trail is its accessibility. It features many designated accessible parking spaces, and most mobility equipment, including wheelchairs, can easily navigate this trail.

Additionally, with a gentle grade of no more than 3%, it is easy to push strollers up and down this beautiful trail. This beautiful, well-maintained trail is also dog friendly as long as the dog is on a leash.
