5 Indianapolis Date Night Destinations

When love is in the air, Indianapolis has you covered. Whether you want a classic dinner date or one with more adventure, Indiana’s capital city has many options. Consider the following local date night destinations to sweep someone special off their feet. 

Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra 

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has entertained crowds since 1930 with their breathtaking musical performances. They perform around 200 concerts a year, so you rarely have to wait too long for your date night. A night at the symphony sounds fancy, and it certainly can be at the Hilbert Circle Theatre. However, if you feel more comfortable in casual clothes, book a Symphony on the Prairie show. These summer outdoor events are very low-key but every bit as impressive. 

Slippery Noodle Inn 

With dinner, drinks, and a show, the Slippery Noodle Inn provides all you need for an evening date in one handy venue. Established in 1850, it’s Indiana’s oldest continuously operating bar. It revels in nostalgia. The menu is timeless, with crowd-pleasers like French onion soup and bacon-wrapped filet mignon. With your belly full, grab a signature cocktail and settle in for a night of blues music. You’ll find the Slippery Noodle at 327 S. Meridian St. 

White Rabbit Cabaret 

It might sound a little risque, but a night at the White Rabbit Cabaret may be just what your relationship needs. The comedy and burlesque shows are always fun, providing real adults-only escapism. They can help you lose your inhibitions, or at least give you something to laugh about together later. Enter with an open mind, and don’t be surprised if you return! This cabaret is located at 1116 Prospect St. 

Tappers Arcade Bar 

Going out for drinks is a great way to break the ice, but the average bar is a little boring. Up your game with a visit to Tappers Arcade Bar. You’ll find craft beers and cocktails here, just like at your favorite bar. However, there are also pinball machines and retro arcade games here to make your night much more fun. Forget about awkward pauses in conversation, duking it out in Street Fighter, or trying to best one another in Galaga will get you talking. You’ll find this arcade at 501 Virginia Ave. in suite 102. 

Tibbs Drive-In Theatre 

Most drive-in theaters have disappeared, but Tibbs keeps the retro tradition alive. It’s the only one left in Indianapolis, but it shows no signs of slowing down. And why would it? Seeing a drive-in movie has a certain novelty that you won’t find in a cinema. Sitting in the privacy of your own car, far away from the prying eyes of other patrons, is also totally romantic. Nearly 1,600 cars visit each weekend to watch classic favorites and the latest releases.  

Tibbs has four outdoor screens each showing two movies for one low price. It opens every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. Check the website for the latest program and head over to 480 S. Tibbs St. to catch a movie with your date.
