2022 Acura MDX in Indianapolis, IN

2022 Acura MDX

Acura manufactured the luxurious three-row MDX in 2001. New updates meant that a 2021 model was not released. Now longer, wider, and lower than the outgoing model, the 2022 MDX seeks to blow the competition away thanks to many new amenities. Use this guide to learn what to expect from the revamped MDX.

Trim Levels

The 2022 Acura MDX comes in four available trims: base, Technology, A-Spec, and Advance. The SUV has two new exterior paint options including Liquid Carbon Metallic and Phantom Violet Pearl. It comes standard with a panoramic sunroof and power tailgate, while the Advance trim includes roof rails and a hands-free power tailgate. Its exterior received a total makeover as it now has a more athletic appearance. The wheelbase is 2.8 inches longer. Its grille is flanked by four LED headlights, and four circular exhaust tips show off the SUV's wide stance. The base trim includes 19-inch wheels, while the upper trims include 20-inch ones. The new Typ S trims ride on 22-inch wheels.

Engine

The 2022 MDX gets its power from a slightly updated version of the 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. It comes mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the outgoing nine-speed automatic. The base MDX and trims that come with the Technology package come standard with front-wheel drive, but you can add the latest generation of Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. This updated system sends 70% of the engine torque to the rear wheels.

Interior

Luxury abounds inside the 2022 MDX as it comes standard with synthetic leather upholstery with premium leather upholstery reserved for the upper trims. Tri-zone automatic climate control is found on all trims. Lower trims include 12-way power-adjustable heated front seats, while top-of-the-line Advance adds side bolsters, thigh extensions, and power lumbar support. Thanks to the elongated wheelbase, the 2022 MDX has an additional 2.4 inches of legroom for the third row. That third row also sits 2 inches higher off the ground and has almost 0.5 inch more headroom compared to the outgoing model. Acura also improved the MDX's infotainment system with a 12.3-inch widescreen HD display. Base models include a nine-speaker audio system and the Technology package includes a 12-speaker system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard as does a wireless charging pad.

Safety Features

The 2022 MDX includes more standard driver-assistance safety features. It comes standard with blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and lane-keep assist. It also offers Traffic Jam Assist, which manages steering, acceleration, and braking to keep the vehicle a proper distance from other vehicles in its lane.
